Young Women's Heavy Periods and Bleeding Disorders Clinic Team
Irmel Ayala, M.D.
Dr. Ayala is the director of the Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders Treatment Center at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. She is also the hematology leader of the Young Women's Heavy Periods and Bleeding Disorders/Menorrhagia Clinic, which focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to bleeding symptoms in girls and young women. Dr. Ayala joined the hospital in 2000. Her research experience includes multicenter national and international projects.
Dr. Ayala earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She completed her residency training at the San Juan City Hospital in Puerto Rico. Following her residency, she pursued a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Ayala is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society.
Alyson Trillo, D.O.
Dr. Trillo is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. She joined the hospital staff in 2023. She earned her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her pediatric residency and served as pediatric chief resident at Broward Health Medical Center/Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Jasmine Reese, M.D., MPH
Dr. Reese is the Division Chief of Adolescent Medicine and director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Specialty Clinic at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is also the adolescent medicine rotation director for the pediatric residency program. She joined the Johns Hopkins All Children's medical staff in 2016 and serves as a full-time Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Reese’s clinical and research interests include reproductive health, mental health, and eating disorders. She is an active member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dawn Harrison, APRN
Dawn Harrison is a family nurse practitioner, board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia. She joined the Hemophilia Treatment Center at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2021. She brought with her more than five years of experience from the Hemophilia Treatment Center of Western New York caring for bleeding disorder patients across the lifespan. She is an advocate for her patients and families through education and community outreach. She also participates in the National Hemophilia Program Coordinating Center Community of Practice Advanced Practice Provider Advisory Committee.
Denielle White, APRN, DNP
Denielle White is an advanced practice provider in the Adolescent and Young Adult Specialty Clinic at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She has previously worked in the Emergency Center and in pediatric endocrinology at All Children’s. Prior to joining the hospital, she was an advanced practice provider in adolescent medicine at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Pediatric Primary Care, from Rush University.
