Due to the current financial situation, there will be no Berkheimer or Innovation grants in 2020 - 2021. We hope to have a call for our Faculty Education Scholars Program for 2021 - 2022
IEE is pleased to announce a call for applications for two grants in our Faculty Education Scholars Program. Each award provides up to $45,000 for 12-18 months to a faculty member or team (maximum of three faculty members) who exhibit promise, innovation, talent and enthusiasm as educators. Grant funding begins July 1, 2020. IEE aims for respect, teamwork and civility as we enrich the learning environment.
Funding sources for these grants come 1) from the Berkheimer estate bequeathed an endowment in honor of Dr. George A. Berkheimer and his wife, Margaret Yates Berkheimer. Dr. Berkheimer graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1938, completed training in orthopedic surgery and had a distinguished 35-year career as a surgeon and teacher. His wife was an accomplished writer and journalist; and, 2) a recent gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous but committed to the work of the IEE and the School of Medicine, has generously provided funding for an IEE Education Innovator grant.
All active full and part-time faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are eligible to apply. Applications may be submitted by an individual faculty member or faculty team of up to three.
