Recognizing that the exchange of information between patient and provider is an essential element of quality patient- and family-centered care, we provide our patients and their families with qualified interpreters for languages other than English and for Sign Language (ASL).
When you call to schedule an appointment, please mention that you, or your family member, will need an interpreter. This will help us best meet your needs.
Language interpretation services are available around-the-clock.
Johns Hopkins Medicine staff members: Request an in-person interpreter for your patient.
- If you have questions, you may contact the hospital via TTY at 410-955-6217.
- Portable TTY machines are available for use in patient rooms through the Admitting Office on the Ground Floor of the Zayed Tower or from the Language Access Services Call Center.
The Johns Hopkins Hospital offers more than 50 professional interpreters to assist in any communication between Johns Hopkins staff and patients whose preferred language is not English. Language assistance is offered in over 130 languages including:
- Creole (Haitian)
