What is the application process for the JHHS Pharmacy Technician Training Program?

The general application process is outlined below. Note: each site will do recruitment separately, and there might be slight variations in the process.

  • Attend one of the Information sessions or watch the Information Session recording
  • Complete Pharmacy Technician Trainee job application on Johns Hopkins website
  • Complete prescreening call and questionnaire as required
  • Schedule and complete pre-assessments (math and reading)
  • Selected candidates will be undergoing the interview process
  • Each year we will be recruiting for two cohorts of classes

Johns Hopkins Hospital - Adult Medicine, Emergency, Surgery
 
Pharmacy (AMES)
  • Services over 700 adult inpatient beds comprised of cardiology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry, solid organ transplant, and surgery
  • Services 65 beds in the Adult Emergency Department
  • Services operating rooms, procedures areas, and Prep/PACU areas
  • Services 60 ambulatory clinics and infusion areas
  • Provides care to ~25 primary care clinics and the Hematology Anticoagulation Clinic with a total of ~6,000 patient encounters per year
Johns Hopkins Hospital - Central Pharmacy
  • Performs daily refills of ~300 Pyxis Stations (~15,000 doses)
  • Produces patient specific and non-patient specific sterile (~250,000/year) and non-sterile (~500,000/year) compounds
  • Performs 24-hour cart fill for 800 adult inpatient beds daily (~1,700 doses)
Johns Hopkins Hospital - Pediatric Pharmacy
  • Services 205 pediatric beds comprised of intensive care, medicine, surgery, research, psychiatry, and rehabilitation as well as 33 beds in the Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Services 47 beds in the Kennedy Krieger Institute
  • Pediatric oncology satellite services 20 pediatric oncology inpatient beds and pediatric oncology clinic
Johns Hopkins Hospital - Weinberg Oncology Pharmacy
  • Services 155 adult inpatient oncology and surgery beds as well as specialized ambulatory oncology clinics and infusion centers
  • Services the Skip Viragh Outpatient Cancer Building and Green Spring Station Medical Oncology Practice

  • The Department of Pharmacy's mission is to provide exceptional and professional service to our patients and customers through high-quality drug formulary management, excellent pharmaceutical care systems, and current, unbiased drug information.
  • Comprehensive clinical pharmacy services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for our inpatients and outpatients receiving care at Sibley. The Pharmacy is comprised of both centralized and decentralized clinical pharmacists as well as certified pharmacy technicians. Decentralized pharmacists are staffed on the critical care, medical/surgical, oncology, orthopedic, perioperative, emergency, and skilled nursing departments during peak hours each day.
  • In addition to hospital pharmacy services, an infusion center pharmacy is in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center on our campus. Infusion medications are prepared onsite to expedite care of the patients seen there.

  • Provides medication order review and verification
  • Performs Pyxis replenishment, unit dose packaging, sterile and non-sterile compounding
