Challenge Grants

The Institute for Excellence in Education (IEE) in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital created the Challenge Grants, calls for which are put out periodically as needs arise, to provide funding to complete innovative, outside-the-box educational scholarship projects on "hot topics" in medical and biomedical training.

Grants we have or are currently funding:

  • Two Residency Redesign Challenge Grants were completed during 2013 and 2014, and were intended to support and complete a project to significantly rethink and redesign residency training programs for the 21st Century.
  • Two Resident Readiness for Practice Grants, which is currently under way, are intended to support and complete projects that ensure that graduates of our GME programs are “ready to practice” while fostering the career development of educator faculty.
