The Center for Harm Response

Building on the success of the Communication and Resolution Program (CRP) throughout the Johns Hopkins Health System, the Armstrong Institute Center for Harm Response was launched in 2026. The Center provides CRP training and program support both internally to our health system and externally to health systems nationwide. Offering unmatched, real-world experience in implementing Communication and Reconciliation Programs at scale, our team is available to consult, train and assist throughout the harm response journey.

We deliver principled, structured and evidence-based harm-response solutions with measurable impact.

Our mission

We serve as the nation’s leading authority and catalyst for advancing optimal responses after harm in healthcare.

Our vision

When healthcare causes harm, patients, families and clinicians always get the support they need, and organizational responses drive healing, learning, safety and trust each and every time.

Our work

  • To guide comprehensive implementation of highly reliable, sustainable communication and reconciliation programs
  • To lead innovation and advance the field through research
  • To develop new and better ways to respond after harm events and utilize post harm measures that drive reliability

Our Team

Our programs and services are built and led by people with long-standing professional experience responding to harm from healthcare or who have been directly harmed by it. Our team includes patients, families, clinicians, patient safety and risk professionals, health system leadership, claims professionals and insurers.

Center Initiatives

Our core offerings are designed to meet the needs of any healthcare organization, wherever they are in their CRP journey. These offerings can be selected individually or as a package of integrated support.
