Join the Spring Race the Globe Movement Challenge

Create a team with your colleagues to connect and have fun through exercise and friendly competition. As part of the theme, An Exploration of Wildlife Around the World, you’ll work with your team to reach milestones that unlock interesting wildlife facts via the Healthy at Hopkins portal. The challenge will kick off May 6 and end May 31. To register, access the Healthy at Hopkins app or the Healthy at Hopkins portal. 

Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance Program (JHEAP)

We know personal challenges can affect you at work and at home, and JHEAP is here to help. Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins University employees and their household family members have 24/7 access to confidential counseling and referral services.

Confidential services and resources include:

• 6 free short-term counseling sessions
• Emotional support to help manage stress (at work or home), emotional distress, a difficult life transition or other challenges
• Referrals for child care and elder care, pet care and household services
• Consultations for legal and financial services

Stress Less Video Series

We know that life can be stressful.  As we move through our days, the feeling of stress can accumulate in our physical bodies and lead us to feeling overwhelmed, anxious and “stressed out.”  This video series offers short mindfulness and body-based practices that can be done in 5 minutes or less to help you manage stress as you move through your day, at work and at home.

Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary groups of employees, typically aligned with underrepresented identities, and allies who come together around common purpose, interests and/or background. They are open to all employees. You can join JHM and entity-level ERGs. These groups help foster an inclusive workplace, offer volunteer opportunities and plan cultural, educational and outreach activities throughout the year.

Making Meaningful Connections

Working in health care can be both rewarding and stressful. Knowing you have a support system of peers can make all the difference. Nurses in the departments of surgery and physical medicine and rehabilitation at The Johns Hopkins Hospital reached out to Sharon Owens, director of nursing for the two departments, with an idea to create opportunities for colleagues to get to know one another.
