Harrine Ramesh, MD, MS
Hometown: Columbus, OH
Undergraduate: Johns Hopkins University
Medical School: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
Career Interests: Med-Peds Primary Care, Obesity Medicine, School-based primary care
Firm: Barker
After having moved 14 times across India and the Midwest, Harrine’s family finally decided to call Columbus, OH home when she was in the 7th grade, and they haven’t left since. She kept up the tradition though - moving to Baltimore to complete her Molecular and Cellular Biology degree at Hopkins, where she also stayed two more years to work as an AmeriCorps K-3 literacy tutor and on a research, project trying to teach urban Black Americans how to adopt the DASH diet to manage early CKD. She moved back to OH to attend Case Western Reserve University SOM where she also got her MS in Nutrition and continued to work on projects to improve health literacy and obesity care in her community. She is thrilled to be back in Baltimore - the city that inspired her to be a primary care provider in the first place; she is looking forward to continuing learning how to treat obesity and other chronic diseases in low income and marginalized families and explore how care can be delivered at schools. When she’s not at EBMC or the hospital, you can find her working out at the Cooley Center (so sad, it’s closing!) or her apartment gym, spending way too much time at Giant and Safeway reading nutrition labels, FaceTiming her husband (who lives in Vancouver) or attending church/Bible studies both virtually and around town.
