Prevention, Screening and Diagnostics

We know that the best way to prevent cancer is to live a healthy lifestyle. That includes choosing a balanced diet low in red and processed meats and high in fiber, fruits and vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. It means minimizing alcohol and avoiding tobacco products, managing stress, and making physical activity a part of your daily life. But we also know that’s not always enough.

Advances in screening and diagnostics

Sometimes, genetics and/or family history predisposes individuals to developing breast cancer. That’s why we offer advanced screening and diagnostics and The Breast and Ovarian Surveillance Service (BOSS). Our expert team of physicians, genetic counselors and nurse practitioners at BOSS provide a number of services: reviewing family history and other risk factors; providing individualized risk assessments; sharing  information and, when appropriate, administering genetic testing; and offering guidance on additional proactive steps when recommended, such as chemoprevention and prophylactic surgeries.
