A Commitment to Community

Johns Hopkins Health Plans Awards Local Community Grant

Taking on the challenges that many of our members face on a daily basis is an important part of helping our communities achieve their best health. Factors such as financial stability, education, access to food and more are known as “social determinants of health.” Johns Hopkins Health Plans and Priority Partners are committed to helping our members and neighbors overcome these barriers through community action.

In July, Johns Hopkins Health Plans granted $20,000 to Maple Shade Youth & Family Services, Inc. to help fund an after-school program for teens that focuses on substance misuse. An accredited mental health clinic, Maple Shade Youth & Family Services serves many people on Medicaid, providing youth and family services for hundreds of children and adolescents in Wicomico, Somerset and surrounding counties.

Maple Shade Youth & Family Services treatment teams and programs serve individuals and families who are suffering from a variety of disorders. Their teamwork approach allows them to offer individual, family, group and school-based therapies in combination with psychiatric evaluations, rehabilitation programs and child respite programs.
