Program Overview

Hear from our program director, Dr. Chida, to learn more about our residency, the oldest in the country.

Welcome to the Osler Medical Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. As the country's first residency program, we are proud of our tradition of training future leaders in medicine

Our goal is every resident who graduates from our program is a master clinician with the tools and skills needed to lead in their future field. We believe the values our housestaff develop through engaging in rigorous clinical training help them succeed in their careers, whether those be in clinical care, research, medical education, policy, government work, etc.

To accomplish the above goal, we provide three years of comprehensive training across a wide variety of experiences in acute and ambulatory medicine. In each experience our residents have a high level of ownership. In addition, we partner across Johns Hopkins University to offer many opportunities in research, teaching, and patient care. We also offer pathways and tracks for residents with specific career interests in: primary care; medical education; patient safety and quality improvement; global health; data science, and physician scientist.

As you explore our website, you will learn about what makes the Osler Residency so special, from our rich history, to how exceptional our housestaff are, to our incredible Osler community, to the wealth of opportunities available for our housestaff, and more.

Thank you for your interest in our program. For specific questions regarding the Osler Medical Residency, please email Jenn Jackson or Jennifer Pruitt.
