Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Named a “Most Connected Hospital”

August 12, 2011

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center has been named one of the nation’s 118 “Most Connected Hospitals” by U.S.News & World Report. The list recognizes hospitals that are leaders when it comes to using electronic medical records and providing quality care.

Hospitals on the list had to meet two challenging standards: capturing a national ranking on the 2011-12 U.S. News “Best Hospitals” list or earning the designation of “high-performing” in one or more medical specialties, and being a leader in moving to electronic medical records.

“This well-deserved recognition is due to the dedication of all Medical Center staff who work to promote safe and effective use of technology for patient care,” says Andrew Frake, senior director of information services at Johns Hopkins Bayview.

HIMSS Analytics, a division of the nonprofit Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, which analyzes use of health information technology, scores hospitals’ adoption of electronic medical records on a scale from Stage 0 to Stage 7. Johns Hopkins Bayview was rated a Stage 6.
