The Center for Breastfeeding at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center provides education and support to patients and the community around lactation and breastfeeding. 

Services include:

  • Pump and supply sales
  • Postpartum counseling
  • Breastfeeding consultation (outpatient and inpatient)

During your hospital stay, on staff International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) will be available to assist you with breastfeeding. After discharge, Bayview patients can also call the Johns Hopkins Hospital lactation warmline at 410-502-3221 to speak to a JHH lactation specialist.

Meet the Director

 

Deborah Lang, RN, MSN, IBCLC, a board-certified lactation consultant, has worked the last forty years as a nurse and lactation consultant. She has developed three lactation consultant practices at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital and currently at Johns Hopkins Bayview. In her role as lactation consultant coordinator, she has written, taught and developed lactation training for student nurses, medical students and fellow nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition, she has developed prenatal breastfeeding classes, outpatient clinic visits and mother support groups. She is also heavily involved in community outreach, helping to launch the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition.
