Medical Education in General Internal Medicine
The focus of medical education in Hopkins GIM is to develop and evaluate curricula for medical students, residents, and fellows. Members of our group work to design, implement, evaluate, and continually improve learners' experiences at all levels of graduate and post-graduate training.
Within these curricula, we strive to integrate such principles as evidence-based medicine, clinical epidemiology, cost effectiveness, and clinical decision making. These learning experiences exist in both traditional formats of small- and large-group teaching settings, as well as innovations in medical education including the Johns Hopkins Medicine Internet Learning Center, now in use at one out of every three internal medicine residency training programs nation-wide. We have also developed an emphasis on quality clinical training in the ambulatory setting for medical students and physicians in residency training designed to meet society’s needs. Finally, Johns Hopkins is home of the Osler Center for Clinical Excellence which has supported many of these efforts within our Division.
