Background
Dr. Helene Hedian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Director of Clinical Education at the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health.
Her academic interests include internal medicine, medical education, and the specific health needs of LGBTQ patients.
Dr. Hedian completed undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and Spanish at the University of Dayton. She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she was selected as a chief resident.
In 2016, she joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University. She is a clinical coach for the Barker firm in the Johns Hopkins Osler Medical Residency.
Her research focuses on provider attitudes and knowledge regarding LGBTQ health, with the goal of expanding competent and compassionate healthcare practices. She has provided gender-affirming primary care to patients through the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health since it opened in 2017.
