General Internal Medicine (GIM) Fellowship Program

The General Internal Medicine (GIM) Fellowship is one of the nation's premier training programs for physicians and PhD-trained scholars pursuing careers in academic general internal medicine and public health. Our mission is to prepare future clinician-scientists, researchers, educators, and leaders through exceptional mentorship, rigorous research training, and interdisciplinary collaboration.​​ The fellowship attracts talented trainees from across the United States with diverse research interests, including clinical epidemiology, health services research, preventive medicine, women's health, medical ethics, and medical education. With a network of more than 200 accomplished alumni, our graduates continue to advance research, education, health policy, and clinical leadership at leading institutions nationwide.​

What Makes Our Fellowship Special

Program Details

The program is two or three years in length and offers a Research Track with several areas of concentration and a Medical Education Track. Hopkins GIM encourages research in many areas of methodologic and content expertise, offering research training in tandem with other programs of excellence across Johns Hopkins University.

INVESTED IN YOU Fellowship Advisory Committee

This committee is comprised of mid-career and senior clinician investigators and clinician educators who meet with Fellows at least twice a year to evaluate Fellows’ progress, troubleshoot problems that may arise, and offer career advice.
