Faculty Governance

  • The Faculty Senate

    The Faculty Senate provides a mechanism for faculty, fellows and students of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to participate more effectively in the deliberations and governance.

  • The Johns Hopkins University Council (JHUC)

    The Johns Hopkins University Council (JHUC) complements and builds upon the work of the School-level governance bodies, including the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Faculty Senate.

  • Faculty Development Advisory Board (FADB)

    The FADB, which meets four times each year, is a group of faculty development, faculty affairs, promotions, mentoring and other faculty-related departmental leaders. Department directors nominate FADB members based on their departmental leadership roles.

  • Early Career Advisory Board (ECAB)

    ECAB is a group early-career faculty liaisons from departments and units in the school of medicine. The ECAB appointment is open to all instructors and assistant professors and meets for one hour every other month, except during the summer months.

  • Women’s Professional Advancement Council (WPAC)

    The Women's Professional Advancement Council (WPAC)'s mission is to build, improve, and catalyze a healthy professional environment where women and their allies (all genders) can feel successful, lead, and achieve their career goals.

  • Part-time Faculty Advisory Board

    The Part-time Faculty Advisory Board (PTFAB) was established in 2010 to continue discussion, advocacy and representation for issues involving the part-time faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The PTFAB meets virtually on a quarterly basis to recognize that PTFAB members are often far from campus.

  • Advisory Board of the Medical Faculty (ABMF)

    The Advisory Board of the Medical Faculty (ABMF) advises the dean on matters relating to the operation of the school of medicine. The ABMF reviews and makes recommendations regarding faculty appointments, promotions, and terminations, as well as policies and procedures related to the educational programs academic affairs of the school of medicine.
