Occupational Therapy Fellowships
Johns Hopkins Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation offers several occupational therapy fellowship programs. Acceptance will be based on the candidate’s ability to provide exceptional patient-centered care and advanced critical thinking skills. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated professional investment and development through research exposure, evidence-based practice and leadership opportunities. Flexibility, time management and communication skills are highly valued, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced academic medical environment with a multidisciplinary team.

All residents and fellows are considered full-time exempt employees of Johns Hopkins and are eligible for all full-time employee benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and many other benefits and perks. Residents and fellows are paid a salary that is reduced to offset the cost of education and mentorship.

No tuition is necessary to participate in our therapy residency and fellowship programs.

There is a supplementary application fee in the amount of $50 that can be paid online. Please refer to the web page for your program to pay the fee. Application will not be processed until the fee is received and application is complete. All fees are non-refundable.

Residents and fellows are responsible for securing their own housing, transportation and meals. Choose a neighborhood downtown or browse housing options throughout the city.

The Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network has multiple inpatient and outpatient locations in and around Baltimore. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is just one of these locations. Depending on your program, you may rotate between several locations or primarily work in one area. All patient care takes place at Johns Hopkins facilities.

This will depend on your program and clinical site. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is staffed 24/7, so you may be scheduled to work on a weekend. Outpatient clinics operate on a different schedule. To learn more, ask your program coordinator about the weekend and holiday commitments that are expected in your role.

The parking cost varies by facility. Employee parking on the East Baltimore campus is generally not free. However, there are numerous parking options in the immediate neighborhood, as well as free employee shuttles that connect various Johns Hopkins offices and clinics. The Metro subway system and the free Charm City Circulator bus service have stops at the hospital. Parking at most outpatient facilities outside of the East Baltimore campus is typically free. Most of our residency and fellowship programs have a research component. Typically, residents and fellows assist primary investigators with ongoing research projects. If you'd like to know more about the projects you may be working on, contact your program coordinator.

Residents and fellows have free access to the Welch Medical Library at Johns Hopkins. The library collection covers a vast variety of subjects and includes more than 5,000 electronic journals, over 400 databases and more than 2,000 electronic books. Most journal articles and books that are not available at the Welch Library can be electronically ordered and sent to you at no cost.
