Prime, Pattern, Power: Three Keys to Unlock Movement Potential and Performance

This 2-day, in-person course will challenge and expand your understanding of strength training by equipping you with innovative strategies to enhance movement quality. Participants will develop skills to optimize strength training for rehabilitation and performance, enabling clients to move better and achieve functional goals effectively.
Target Audience
This course is ideal for physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches seeking to deepen their knowledge of strength training, functional movement patterns and foundational lifts and would like to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance.

Course Objectives
Human Movement System Fundamentals
- Develop a foundational understanding of the human movement system, emphasizing the interconnectedness of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and postural components.
- Learn to assess and analyze movement patterns to identify strengths and inefficiencies.
- Understand how movement quality impacts both rehabilitation and performance outcomes.
Implications of Movement Dysfunction
- Recognize common movement dysfunctions and their underlying causes, including mobility, stability or motor control deficits.
- Explore the biomechanical and neurological consequences of dysfunctional movement patterns.
- Develop strategies to address dysfunction by using the fundamentals of the human movement system.
Priming: Fundamentals of Reflexive Strength and Human Movement
- Understand the foundational principles of reflexive strength and its relevance to functional movement.
- Revisit Neuro-Developmental Movement Sequences, such as crawling, rolling and squatting.
- Learn how to integrate these sequences into therapeutic and performance-focused training.
Patterning: Using the BAKBŌN for Teaching Movement
- Gain hands-on experience using the BAKBŌN for neutral spine position and enhance movement patterning, sequencing and squatting mechanics.
- Learn basic cues and instructional techniques to improve client understanding and execution of movements.
Powering Up: Teaching Kettlebell Skills
- Learn or refine essential kettlebell skills, including the deadlift, two-handed kettlebell swing, goblet squat, one-arm overhead press, one-arm front squat and Turkish get-up.
- Understand teaching progressions and safety considerations for incorporating kettlebells into practice.
Powering up: Leveraging Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) for Strength Training
- Gain an introduction to the science and foundational evidence behind Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training.
- Understand how to apply BFR techniques to enhance strength gains, particularly in clients with limited strength or joint stress tolerance.
- Learn to design BFR programs and practice hands-on application in real-world scenarios.
