Glioblastoma and BRAF Gene Mutation | Courtney's Story

After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2008, Courtney’s prognosis was not good. A referral to neuro-oncologist Karisa Schreck and neurosurgeon Jon Weingart changed the course of her illness. They identified a specific mutation and used a combination of therapies to reduce the tumor's size and keep the cancer in remission.

Hemorrhagic Stroke and Facial Paralysis: Maggie’s Story

Maggie suffered a life-threatening stroke at age 33. Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Judy Huang performed surgery to stop the bleeding in Maggie’s brainstem, and subsequent facial plastic and reconstructive surgery helped restore motion to her face.

Schwannoma Tumor | Arrington's Story

After turning in bed, Arrington heard a snap and felt instant pain. MRI results showed a broken neck ⁠— and even worse — a large spinal tumor. Arrington and his fiancée sought out spine neurosurgeon Timothy Witham at Johns Hopkins for care.
