Take Control of Your Diabetes – Live Healthy
Howard County General Hospital’s comprehensive diabetes program focuses on each individual and not just the disease. Our personalized approach to diabetes care begins at your very first visit to our program and lasts beyond your last interaction with our highly-trained staff. The information shared is designed to put you on the path to living healthy with diabetes for the long term.

Prediabetes and Prevention
Cost: $15, 1 ½ hour course
Gain expert insight and valuable tips on how to prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes. HCGH’s certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian will teach you how to make important lifestyle and dietary changes to help you take control of your health and prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes.
Living Well with Diabetes
This 6-week workshop is designed for those living with or at risk for Type II diabetes. Participants will learn self-management skills such as goal setting and stress management strategies; understand glucose monitoring, skin and foot care; learn techniques to cope with feelings of frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; develop skills to communicate more effectively with family, friends and health professional; and learn about appropriate exercise and nutrition for diabetics. Caregivers are also welcome to register.

Insurance no longer covers these diabetes courses; however, to keep costs to a minimum for patients, the course price is similar to or less than co-payments for most insurance plans if they offered coverage.
Advanced registration is advised for all programs unless noted. Payment is due at registration. A $25 cancellation fee with be applied to cancellations made less than one week before class. Refunds will not be given less than 24 hours before class starts. For cancellations due to low enrollment, a full refund will be issued.
