Who Can Apply

Hopkins Internal Medicine residents (Osler and Bayview), Med-Peds and Urban Health residents, and fellows in GIM programs or mentored by GIM faculty.  

Applicants select one award category. 

How to Apply

Each applicant must complete the application form and upload the following documents, preferably in PDF format: 

• Personal statement describing what led you to this area of research and your interest in a career in academic General Internal Medicine 
• Structured abstract (500 words or fewer) describing the nature and findings of your research (introduction, methods, results, conclusions). Include the abstract title and author(s). 
• Current curriculum vitae (CV) 

Applicants must also have two letters of recommendation submitted by individuals who are familiar with the applicant's qualifications and research (e.g., residency director, research mentor).

Selection Criteria

Research must show results (not merely proposed design).

Research may have been conducted prior to housestaff or fellowship training (e.g., medical school, college, master’s or doctoral program).

Research may have been already presented/published (if so, please attach).

Submissions will be evaluated on:

• Quality of applicant/likelihood for success in academic medicine
• Commitment to career in academic GIM
• Quality of research
