Johns Hopkins Healthful Eating, Activity & Weight Program
The Johns Hopkins Healthful Eating, Activity & Weight Program focuses on working with patients to make long-term lifestyle changes to prevent chronic disease and improve their health. We combine scientifically proven strategies with a compassionate and supportive approach to deliver high-quality care for women and men.
Our program uses a variety of evidence-based tools to help achieve these goals including group and one-on-one behavioral counseling to promote a healthful diet and physical activity, meal replacements, psychological services including cognitive behavioral therapy, and eligibility for bariatric procedures including surgery. Medication management, including the prescription of anti-obesity or other medications, may also be a part of the treatment plan. Patients work with a team of specialists including specialty physicians, psychologists, health coaches, nutrition specialists, and nurses.

How to Schedule Your Appointment
If you are a new or existing patient, please call us at 410-616-7420 to schedule a visit.
For new patients, you will typically be scheduled for an in-person visit. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, our doctors and care teams are taking extra precautions to make your visit as safe as possible through screening procedures, the use of masks and protective equipment, cleaning and social distancing. Many existing patients have the option to have a video appointment (telemedicine) with their provider. To help your provider deliver the best care during your telemedicine visit, we ask that you complete two tasks the day before your appointment: 1) weigh yourself, and 2) complete this 3-day food diary. Please send a My Chart message to your provider the day before your appointment that has your weight value and attach the completed pdf of this diary to that message. Learn more about video visits.
