Dr. Ashar is a primary care physician and professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins. With more than 25 years of experience caring for patients, teaching medical students, and leading clinical programs, Dr. Ashar brings deep expertise and compassion to every episode of Medicine Made General. He serves as both Interim Director and Clinical Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine and has a special interest in preventive care, chronic disease management and evidence-based wellness.
Known for his ability to explain complex health topics in a clear and thoughtful way, Dr. Ashar is passionate about helping people feel empowered to take charge of their health — one conversation at a time.
