Annual Technician Course at the Wilmer Eye Institute

Wilmer's 28th Annual Technician Course will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Owens Auditorium in the Cancer Research Building of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Campus.

Program Agenda

As those of you who have attended our previous courses know, our programs are informal and collegial. 

Our speakers aim for open, interactive communication with the audience, so you feel comfortable asking questions.  

Topics include most of the ophthalmic specialties, all aimed at ophthalmic technicians. This is a sample schedule of the program:

The 27th Annual Technician Course — An Enlightening Experience

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine hosted its 27th Annual Technician Course — virtually and in person — at the Albert H. Owens Jr. Auditorium. The yearly meeting provides an opportunity for ophthalmic technicians to learn from some of the preeminent ophthalmology experts and for certified ophthalmic technicians to earn 6.25 IJCAHPO Group A continuing education credits.

Wilmer 26th Annual Tech Course — A Hybrid Learning Experience

Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine’s 26th Annual Tech Course was held Saturday, Oct. 26. For the first time, the event was held both in person at the Owens Auditorium on the Johns Hopkins Hospital East Baltimore medical campus and online. Nearly 100 people, including ophthalmic technicians and Wilmer experts, attended the event.

Wilmer's 25th Annual Technician Course - A Milestone Event

On Saturday, Oct. 21, Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine held its 25th Annual Technician Course. About 100 ophthalmic technicians, from across the region, convened in the Owens Auditorium at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus to earn continuing education credits and to learn from some of the foremost ophthalmology experts.

Wilmer Eye Institute’s 24th Annual Technician Course — An Invaluable Experience

The Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine’s 24th Annual Technician Course was held — in person for the first time in three years — on Saturday, Oct. 15. More than 70 ophthalmic technicians convened in the Owens Auditorium on the Johns Hopkins medical campus to hear presentations from the eye institute’s ophthalmology faculty.

  • Wilmer employees: JH staff/students must use their ID badge to swipe in/out in order to park for free on weekends.
