Our Approach
-
Our inpatient program works with patients from birth to age 21. One of our physicians will see your child to evaluate their condition, and we will create a rehabilitation program focused on the unique needs of your child and family. The patient will have sessions with one of our therapists for at least three hours each day during their rehabilitation. Our pediatric inpatient facility allows us to begin therapies as soon as the patient is medically stable, maximizing the chance of recovery.
-
Our outpatient activity-based restorative therapy (ABRT) program is a comprehensive medico-rehabilitative intervention to optimize recovery of day-to-day function by restoring neurologic function. One of our physicians will meet with you to conduct a specialized outpatient evaluation and to create a personalized therapy plan. Extended therapy sessions may include both ABRT and aquatic therapy, and your therapists and physician will work together to monitor your progress and adjust the plan based on your needs.
-
Our center provides the best treatment options for ongoing, sustained rehabilitation, no matter if you live close to our center or out of state.
If you are in or near Baltimore and can travel to our facilities, you will attend therapy two or three times per week and will receive periodic medical spinal cord injury follow-up. If you live outside of Maryland, you will first visit our center for one or two weeks of daily therapy, and then a customized rehabilitation program can be performed at home or with a local therapist. We encourage you to return to the center regularly so we can evaluate your progress and adjust your rehabilitation plan if needed.
Our Team
Our experts have extensive experience providing acute and chronic rehabilitation for patients with acute and chronic spinal cord injuries. Our treatment team consists of board-certified spinal cord injury physicians and nurse practitioners, and therapists specialized in spinal cord injury care, all working together to provide you with a specialized plan.
