Johns Hopkins National Proton Center is changing the nature of cancer care. Our experts use their extensive expertise, latest research and advanced proton therapy technology to develop personalized treatment plans for each patient.
Protons beams can be precisely targeted to deposit energy within the tumor, sparing surrounding healthy organs and tissues. This means fewer side effects during treatment and in the future.
Proton therapy can be used to treat a variety of tumors. In adults, it is recommended for tumors that might be near a vital organ, including:
- Cancer in the brain or on or near the spinal cord
- Cancers in the chest or abdominal cavity, including esophageal, pancreatic, liver and lung
- Eye cancer
- Gynecological cancers
If you have one of these conditions, or think that proton therapy might be a right treatment for you, contact our team to get evaluated.
