Program Details

The Johns Hopkins Summer Jobs Program is sponsored by Johns Hopkins Health System and Johns Hopkins University. The program provides students surrounding our health and university campuses the opportunity to complete a 7-week paid internship in one of various departments throughout the Institution. The program promotes exposure to careers and workplace culture, while providing an educational experience that promotes mentoring and fosters personal responsibility.

Internship Opportunities

During our summer internship program, we offer a diverse range of opportunities that cater to various interests and skill sets. For those inclined towards the medical field, you may find yourself engaged in research or laboratory work, allowing you to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in healthcare. We also offer patient-facing tasks (not direct patient care) that provide valuable exposure to the healthcare environment and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients.

On the non-medical side, we provide opportunities in business, office work, HR, IT, and maintenance, giving you a chance to explore different facets of our large healthcare system. This could involve responsibilities such as assisting with administrative tasks, conducting data entry and record keeping, supporting communications, participating in department projects, and contributing to community outreach and public relations initiatives. Through any of these opportunities, you would gain exposure to different facets of the healthcare system, acquiring valuable skills and experiences beyond the medical domain.

While we cannot guarantee specific placements, we are committed to matching your skills and interests with the most suitable opportunities to help you gain valuable experience and further your career goals.

Professional Development Opportunities

Experience personal growth and skill development in our Professional Development series, where we provide a supportive environment for you to nurture your professional abilities and gain hands-on expertise to advance your career aspirations. Professional development will be provided weekly as part of your paid experience. These experiences will include guest speakers, workshops and related materials. While these professional development opportunities are subject to change, in general, you can expect to grow in the following areas.
