In-person Interviewing Information
For the 2025-2026 Interview Season
We are very excited to welcome applicants back to Baltimore as we return to in-person interviews!
Your visit to Johns Hopkins will begin on the Thursday evening before your interview day with an informal social hour with current residents and their partners/spouses. This optional event is an excellent way to meet some of our residents in a casual setting on the Baltimore Harbor waterfront.
The interview day will be held every Friday from 8:00 AM until 3:45 PM.
We start the day at The Johns Hopkins Hospital with a welcome breakfast and program overview with our program director, Dr. Michael Ehmann.
After meeting Dr. Ehmann, our Chief Residents and Assistant and Associate Program Directors will lead you on a tour of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Emergency Department followed by a bus tour of some of the most popular Baltimore neighborhoods that our residents call home.
After a brief shuttle from the hospital to our Mt. Washington Conference Center, you’ll join our faculty and residents for a fascinating case discussion, led by our Department Chair, Dr. Gabe Kelen, at our weekly Chair’s Hour. At the end of conference, applicants will enjoy a catered lunch with our residents.
After lunch, you will have three individual interviews with faculty, residents, and nurses. In between interviews, you’ll chat with a few of our residents in a small group setting, as well as with Dr. Ehmann in a second small group, so that we can get to know you better, and you can get to know us and your fellow applicants a little better too!
The day will conclude with a brief goodbye from Dr. Ehmann at 3:30 PM. At the conclusion of your interview day, an optional complimentary shuttle will be provided back to the day’s starting point at Johns Hopkins Hospital for any applicants who parked there.
We look forward to meeting you!
