About the Academy

The Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Academy of Clinical Excellence (ACE) recognizes and promotes clinical excellence among community-based clinicians. Members of the academy, all Johns Hopkins Community Physicians providers, set an example of clinical excellence for the broader community through demonstration of outstanding clinical acumen, delivery of the highest quality patient- and family-centered care, peer mentorship, teaching and clinical leadership.

Sujay Pathak, M.D., is the recipient of the 2024 Institute for Excellence in Education’s (IEE) Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in teaching, which the IEE defines as direct contact time with learners in a large group, small group or one-on-one, whether in the classroom, lab or clinical setting.

FEATURED CLINICAL WORK & RESEARCHCoaching Primary Care Clinicians in the Ambulatory Setting: Direct Observation and Deliberate Practice

Michael Crocetti, M.D., & Tina Kumra, M.D. | This study’s results highlight the acceptance of coaching as a tool that both reminds primary care clinicians of their strengths in caring for their patients and that alerts them to areas needing attention. Patients in primary care practices were not only amenable to the coaching of their clinicians during visits, but viewed the experience positively and seemed pleased with their primary care clinician’s commitment to improvement.
