Physical Health

As a resident you are afforded a free gym membership at the following Johns Hopkins gyms:

Mental Health

  • Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance Program - JHU employees and their household family members have free 24/7 access to confidential counseling and referral services for help with stress at work or at home, emotional distress, a difficult life transition, or other challenges.
  • The RISE (Resilience in Stressful Events) Team - RISE provides confidential peer-to-peer support to Johns Hopkins Hospital employees who have experienced a stressful, patient-related incident. PING "RISE Team" or call 410-283-3953.
  • Mental Health Services - A part of the services available to School of Medicine students and Johns Hopkins housestaff and post-doctoral fellows, Mental Health Services provides treatment for mental health conditions.
  • Benefits for Residents and ACGME Fellows
  • Pregnancy and Parenting - Whether you’re having a baby, raising a child, or caring for an aging relative, Johns Hopkins University Human Resources have resources for you, from lactation support, to adoption assistance, to help finding—and paying for—child care and eldercare.

Other benefits that come with residency at Wilmer include:

  • Inscribed lenses and loupes
  • $1000 educational fund annually
  • Food stipend when on call ("Dome" pass)
  • Half day given every 6 months for doctor's or dental appointment (wellness day)
  • Stipend for international travel for PGY-4's during elective
  • A total of four weeks (20 days) vacation each year with flexible scheduling
  • Two meeting days allotted each year to attend conferences 
  • Unlimited meeting days to attend conferences as a presenter
  • Stipend for international travel for PGY-4's during elective
