Resources for Physical Well-Being

There are a number of facilities and resources to promote physical well-being across the Johns Hopkins campuses.

The Denton A. Cooley Center

The Cooley Center is a fitness center that caters to the Johns Hopkins Medical community. The center is located on the northwest corner of the East Baltimore campus, facing the Outpatient Building.

9th Floor Fitness Center at the Bloomberg School of Public Health

The 9th Floor Fitness Center is located in the southwest corner of the Bloomberg School of Public Health Building and is managed by Elevation Corporate Health.

Johns Hopkins Climbing Wall and Bouldering Cave

The Climbing Wall and Bouldering Cave are located in the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center on the Homewood campus. The Climbing Wall features 13 top rope areas and several lead climbing routes, as well as numerous features including cracks, flakes, and overhangs.

Resources for Mental Well-Being

University Mental Health Services (UMH)

A part of the University Health Services available to School of Medicine students and Johns Hopkins housestaff and post-doctoral fellows, UMH provides treatment for mental health conditions. To schedule an appointment, call 410-955-1892

Hopkins JHEAP

JHEAP provides 24/7 access to free confidential counseling and referral services to employees and their household family members. Services include in person or tele-video short term counseling to provide emotional support to help manage stress at work or at home, emotional distress, a difficulty life transition or other challenges. JHEAP also provides daily life assistance: such as resources and referrals for child care and elder care, pet care and household services as well as consultation for legal and financial services.

Spouses and Domestic Partners

The Johns Hopkins Medical Auxiliary is a social network for couples and families where one or both members are residents or fellows of Hopkins. Their goal is to provide support to physician families as they navigate various milestones of medical-training life in Baltimore.
