Rita Driggers, M.D., FACOG

Residency: Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center) 
Fellowship: The Johns Hopkins Hospital

Dr. Rita Driggers attended medical school at the University of Tennessee followed by residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed Services Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. She then completed fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, which was followed by 14 years of service in the U.S. Navy. During the majority of her time in the Navy she was stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where she served as Chief of Obstetrics and Director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division as well as Associate Residency Program Director. Upon leaving the Navy, Dr. Driggers joined the faculty at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, serving as the Program Director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Driggers is currently Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Medical Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital. In her spare time, Dr. Driggers serves as an American Board of Obstetrician and Gynecologists (ABOG) General Oral Board Examiner and as a member of several committees of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).

 

 

Julia Timofeev, M.D., FACOG

Medical degree: University of Florida, Gainesville
Residency: University of Virginia
Fellowship: MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Hospital

Dr. Timofeev is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine.  She has completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, followed by fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.  During her fellowship, she researched preterm birth and prematurity, delayed umbilical cord clamping, and the effects of advanced maternal age on pregnancy outcomes.  She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has special interest in prenatal genetics and is currently an Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.   She served as a Young Physician member of the  American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) Committee on Genetics, and has also lectured on the management of diabetes at the ACOG annual clinical meetings.  She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

 

 

Christopher Novak, M.D., FACOG

Medical degree: SUNY Upstate Medical University
Residency: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
Fellowship: The Johns Hopkins Hospital

Dr. Novak is a graduate of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Following his residency training, he served in the U.S. Army for four years as an OB/GYN prior to pursuing his fellowship training. He completed fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. During his fellowship, he researched the impact of prematurity and intrauterine infection on perinatal brain injury, as well as the evaluation and management of placenta accreta spectrum disorders. Dr. Novak is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is an active candidate for board certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Certified Genetic Counselor

Master’s Degree: Genetic Counseling, University of Maryland School of Medicine

Jennifer is a board certified genetic counselor who has been working with preconception and prenatal patients since graduating from the University of Maryland Genetic Counseling Program in 2010. Prior to joining the Maternal Fetal Medicine Program at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Jennifer worked as a reproductive genetic counselor in Fairfax, VA, where she gained expertise with assisted reproductive technologies and preimplantation genetic testing of embryos. She is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), and the Maryland and DC Society of Genetic Counselors, and a public member of the Committee on Genetics for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She teaches and supervises genetic counseling students from local genetic counseling programs, has given Grand Rounds presentations to local healthcare professionals, and regularly attends conferences and webinars to continue her professional education.

Michelle Martin, M.S., LCGC
Certified Genetic Counselor

Master’s Degree: University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver 

Michelle has her master’s degree in genetic counseling and received her certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Michelle has worked as the sole genetic counselor at two reproductive genetics centers and in a private practice prior to joining the Maternal Fetal Medicine Program at Sibley Memorial Hospital. She enjoys being a part of the Sibley MFM team. Michelle is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), and the Virginia Association of Genetic Counselors (VAGC).

Laurie L. King, RDMS
Chief Obstetric Sonographer

Ultrasound training: Montgomery College

Laurie has been board certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) since 1999.  Her passion is obstetric sonography and she has been performing ultrasounds on high-risk obstetric patients since 2004. Laurie helped start the Maternal Fetal Medicine practice at Sibley Memorial Hospital in 2013. She is a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

Laura Berg, B.S., RDMS, RVT
Obstetric Sonographer

Ultrasound training: The Johns Hopkins Hospital 

Laura received a BS in Biology in 2011 and a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 2013. She is registered in OB/GYN, abdomen, and vascular ultrasound by ARDMS. Laura’s training prepared her for many different specialties, but her greatest interest is in high-risk obstetrics and she has been with Sibley Maternal Fetal Medicine since 2014.

Parisa Samari, B.S., RDMS
Obstetric Sonographer

Ultrasound training: Montgomery College

Parisa earned a BS in Nutrition in 1999. After being accepted to both ultrasound and radiology programs, she pursued ultrasound and graduated from the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Montgomery College in 2006. She is registered in OB/GYN and abdomen by ARDMS. Parisa has been an obstetric sonographer since 2006 and joined the Sibley Maternal Fetal Medicine team in 2017.

Jill Verneret, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Registered Nurse

Nursing School: Perth College of Nursing and Midwifery (Perth, Scotland)

Jill earned her nursing education in 1989 from Perth College of Nursing and Midwifery in Perth, Scotland. Following her graduation from nursing school, Jill worked in a variety of settings including Primary Care, OR, and a Surgical Day Care Unit until attending Midwifery school in 1999 at The Robert Gordon University in Scotland. She worked as a midwife in the Labor ward of Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in Scotland until moving to the USA in 2003. For over 16 years, she has been a part of John’s Hopkins Medicine team as a nurse in Labor and Delivery and Signature OB/GYN in Columbia, Maryland. In 2016, she joined Sibley Maternal Fetal Medicine’s team and is certified in both inpatient Obstetrics and Electronic Fetal Monitoring.

Carrie Konn, RN, BSN, C-EFM

Nursing Education: Florida International University

Carrie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University in 2016. Prior to joining our team, she worked at Yale New Haven Hospital on a high-risk Labor and Delivery/Maternal Special Care Unit, where she earned her certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring. Carrie is passionate about providing high-quality care to women.
