Body MRI Fellowship
In the Body MRI section, we interpret over 7,000 body MRI examinations each year. MRI studies are performed on 14 state-of-the-art 1.5T and 3T in house clinical scanners, one interventional scanner and one intraoperative scanner in the IMRIS suite. In addition, we interpret body MRI examination from 5 offsite 1.5T and 3T magnets. We offer extensive clinical and research experience in all aspects of body MRI:
- Chest
- Cardiac
- Vascular
- Abdomen: Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, Renal/Adrenal, Retroperitoneal, Gastro-intestinal
- Pelvis
- Prostate
- Musculoskeletal MRI

Body MRI Clinical Fellowship
The dedicated Body MRI fellowship is an intensive 12-month clinical fellowship in Body MRI including chest, cardiac, vascular, abdomen, hepatobiliary, pelvis, prostate and musculoskeletal MRI studies. In the course of the fellowship, the fellow will learn how to prescribe MRI protocols and will gain experience with new MRI techniques under the direct supervision of the program director and the MRI faculty. The body MRI fellows will achieve in depth understanding of the basic principles of MRI and protocol development and optimization, with a one-month hands-on rotation with expert MR technologists. Two dedicated MRI fellows are accepted each year.
The body MR fellows actively participate in the diagnosis and management of complex disease processes and augment their experience through participation in multi-disciplinary conferences. Weekly didactic lectures and monthly interesting case conferences are also available. Teaching opportunities include formal resident teaching assignments with supervision of residents rotating on body MRI. There are ample opportunities to participate in translational MRI research projects, including cardiac imaging, oncologic imaging, genomics and machine learning.
In addition to a competitive annual salary, fellows receive educational funds.
Candidates must be Board-Certified or Board-Qualified in Diagnostic Radiology and must be eligible to obtain a State of Maryland medical license. Along with your completed application, please include your CV, a personal statement and 3 letters of recommendation.
Applications for fellowship will be accepted July 1 with the deadline of August 15. Interviews will be scheduled in early September.

Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship
Clinical Directors: Stefan Zimmerman, M.D. and Tony Lin, M.D.
This one-year fellowship is ACGME-Equivalent and starts July 1, 2023.
The Cardiothoracic Imaging fellowship program will accept one fellow each year and will be fully integrated with Johns Hopkins Hospital. The fellow will rotate through both hospitals to take advantage of the unique and complementary educational opportunities as well as the exceptional resources that are available across the Hopkins Health System.
In addition to rotating with the cardiothoracic imaging team to learn chest CT, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI, the fellow will also benefit from the multidisciplinary collaboration that is such a strength of the Hopkins system. Fellows will attend and staff multidisciplinary thoracic tumor board, interstitial lung disease conference, congenital cardiac surgery conference, and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy conference. These conferences will be a great opportunity for fellows to learn how cardiothoracic imaging fits within the context of the greater patient care team and will learn how to tailor imaging reports to the needs of the ordering practitioners. Ample research opportunities in cardiac and thoracic CT, cardiac MR and AI are also available.
