Children, adolescents, and young adults are treated at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in a variety of settings from emergency care to intensive outpatient programs, outpatient clinics, and community programs that reach into neighborhoods and schools. Inpatient psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents is provided at the Broadway Campus of The Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children's Center.

General Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic

For youth ages 6 to 22

Outpatient services at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center include diagnostic evaluations; psychological assessments; medication evaluation and follow-up; group therapy; and casework services. Children and care gives may attend individual, family or group treatment sessions as part of treatment.

La Clinica de la Familia Latina/Latino Family Clinic

For youth ages 4 to 21 and/or whose caregivers do not speak English

Diagnostic evaluation, individual and family therapy, and medication management are provided by a physician and clinicians who speak Spanish.

Child Mobile Treatment

For individual ages 3 to 24 with behavioral and emotional problems who require intensive treatment to remain in the community.

The Child Mobile Treatment Program at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center serves children and adolescents with psychiatric problems who require intensive outpatient treatment in order to remain in the community, but have been unable to access traditional mental health services. The goal is to provide short-term community and home-based services in order to avoid hospitalization, preserve families, and connect patients to local treatment programs. Clients must have active Medical Assistance.

Professional staff provide Individual and family services geared toward evaluation and stabilization of patients and families, connecting them to resources and eventual referral to a less intensive programs. It involves at least four visits a month. Some assistance with transportation may be provided.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Rehabilitation

Program Manager: Hector Opulencia LCPC

This after-school psychiatric rehabilitation program at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center serves youths, ages 4 to 17, in coordination with outpatient services. A complete assessment is provided to determine a course of group treatment for the development of educational, social, and independent living skills. Services are available up to five days a week for three and half hours a day

School-Based Mental Health Services

Program Supervisor: Annastasia Kezar, MA, CSS, CAGS, LCPC.

The School-based Mental Health Program from the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is located at various southeast Baltimore public schools. Therapists based in these schools work closely with school and county staff to provide individual, family, and group counseling as well as crisis intervention for children and families. The team can make referrals for testing and further treatment. The multi-disciplinary professional team includes a child psychiatrist who goes to each school for scheduled medication consultations. The team also work with individual schools to address their specific mental health needs. Children and their families must have Medical Assistance or be eligible for it.
