Adult Autism and Developmental Disorders Clinic

The Adult Autism and Developmental Disorders Clinic provides comprehensive psychotherapeutic services for adults with Developmental Disorders including Autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/exposure, genetic disorders, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities. The program is designed to meet the unique and complex needs of this patient population and is committed to providing expert mental health assessment and treatment in a caring and supportive environment.

Who is Eligible?

Potential patients must be at least 18 years of age and have a known, or suspected, developmental disorder or intellectual disability, as well as one or more mental health issues that can be addressed in treatment. This includes, but is not limited to mood symptoms, anxiety, socialization issues, problems with daily functioning, or problematic behaviors. 

Individuals must be verbal and able to participate in psychotherapy.  

If you are seeking only medication management, we can provide you with resources for this service. 

Services Offered

  • Initial Assessment
  • Ongoing outpatient psychotherapy
  • Group therapy ((e.g. anger management, coping skills, self-awareness)
  • Medication management in conjunction with psychotherapy
  • Support with behavioral strategies
  • Close coordination of care with other health professionals, group home providers and state of Maryland DDA, as needed.

Referrals to: 

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language therapy
  • Psychosocial rehabilitation programs (PRP)*
  • Case management Services*

*Individuals with DDA funding may not be eligible for PRP or case management services

Clinic Staff

The Adult Autism and Developmental Disorders Clinic is staffed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of mental health therapists, social workers, occupational therapists and consulting psychiatrists.

Insurance

We accept Medical Assistance, Medicare as well as some private insurances. Insurance coverage will be verified prior to the first appointment.
