The Johns Hopkins Epilepsy Fellowship Program
The Johns Hopkins Epilepsy Fellowship program includes one year of training accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and a second, optional, non-accredited year concentrating on more in depth epilepsy training with an opportunity to conduct epilepsy research. The program emphasizes diagnostic evaluation and treatment of patients with epileptic seizures, or with symptoms and signs, in the differential diagnosis of epileptic seizures. This includes the clinical management of both inpatients and outpatients, as well as instruction in the interpretation of EEGs in both inpatients and outpatients with and without epilepsy. Clinical instruction emphasizes diagnostic and clinical management of patients undergoing long-term inpatient video-EEG monitoring for epilepsy and related conditions, including the surgical management of medically refractory epilepsy. This includes patients being monitored in the Johns Hopkins Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), in the Neuro-Critical Care Unit (NCCU) unit, and in other inpatient clinical units at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Physicians who anticipate completion of an accredited Residency in Neurology or Child Neurology are encouraged to apply no later than 18 months prior to their anticipated start date. All applicants should send their CV, a personal statement, and three letters of recommendation, including one from their residency director, to the program coordinator, Joanne Barnett at:
