Specialty Clinic for Diseases of Complement Dysregulation and Thrombotic Microangiopathies

The complement system is a complex network of immune proteins important in defending against infection.  Impaired control of complement can lead to kidney disease, most notably C3 glomerulopathy and thrombotic microangiopathy. Specific disease examples include:

  • C3 glomerulonephritis
  • Dense Deposit Disease
  • Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome

Johns Hopkins has a team of physicians and researchers dedicated to the care and management of patients diagnosed with complement associated kidney disease.  This multidisciplinary team includes Nephrology, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Pathology, and Laboratory Medicine.
