The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus is convenient to many cities in the mid-Atlantic region, located just one hour from Washington, DC, or Wilmington, Delaware; 1.5 hours from Philadelphia or Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and 35 minutes from Annapolis, Maryland.

Guest parking is available at a number of convenient locations on campus.

The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus offers a comprehensive approach that combines state-of-the-art cancer care services with compassionate and personal attention to your needs.

As part of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, we are part of the only cancer center in Maryland to carry the National Cancer Institute’s designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, and one of just 41 such centers in the U.S. The cancer care we provide is integrated with the cancer center at The Johns Hopkins Hospital campus, as well as other Johns Hopkins locations. This integration gives our team of physicians access to the newest therapies, treatments and research, as they develop and deliver a highly personalized treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. Should your treatment plan call for surgery, radiation therapy, or other services, or team works with you to coordinate every aspect of your care.

Patients with lung, esophageal or breast cancers are treated at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center at Bayview Medical Center using the following cancer treatments: 

  • The Johns Hopkins Bayview campus is a leader in offering cancer patients less invasive laparoscopic and robot-assisted procedures, which typically result in less blood loss and post-operative pain, a shorter recovery time and hospital stay, and a faster return to daily activities.

    Read more about one patient’s experience with this less invasive surgery for her kidney cancer and a uterine cancer patient’s experience with a robotic-assisted hysterectomy and novel lymph node mapping—a procedure first available at Hopkins Bayview.

    Minimally invasive surgery also helped a patient with esophageal cancer.

  • Medical oncology uses chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy to treat cancer.

    At the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center on Bayview Medical Center we’ve created a comfortable setting where your family and friends can sit with you while you receive treatment and see your doctor. The facility features an on-site oncology pharmacist, comfortable reclining chairs and individual televisions.

  • We numerous innovative radiation treatments for cancer patients, including:

    • Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT): This therapy delivers highly focused radiation
    • Image-guided radiation therapy
    • Motion management.

    All of these innovative treatments let us better target and reach the tumors with the focused treatment they need.

Our patient care technicians are responsible for a variety of pre-appointment procedures including taking vital signs and drawing blood for testing.

Our registrars will register you for your appointment when you arrive and assist in arranging appointments for testing and other services recommended by your provider.

Medical Office Coordinators

Our medical office coordinators arrange your appointments with our providers and assist in procuring the medical records needed for your initial appointment. They also assist with insurance verifications and manage communications between you and your provider.
