To keep kids safe from burn injuries:

  • Install smoke alarms on every level of your home.
  • Keep matches, lighters and other flammable materials out of reach of children.
  • Lower the setting on your water heater to 120 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
  • Never leave a child alone in the kitchen or bathroom; install anti-scald devices in water faucets and shower heads.
  • Keep appliance cords out of children’s reach; cover unused electrical outlets with caps.
