Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program

As part of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center, we offer comprehensive, patient- and family-oriented transplant care for children up to 22 years old with end-stage kidney disease. Our multidisciplinary team is involved in all phases of transplant care from evaluation to post-transplant follow-up.

We proudly offer:

  • A multidisciplinary clinic including pediatric nephrologists, transplant surgeons, pediatric urologists, a pediatric nurse practitioner, pediatric kidney transplant nurse, pediatric social worker, pediatric dietician, pediatric transplant pharmacist, pediatric Child Life specialist and a pediatric behavioral psychologist
  • A dedicated transplant navigator who triages phone calls and helps arrange appointments as soon as possible
  • A structured transition program specifically designed to aid in the development of autonomy among teenage and young adult patients
  • The only outpatient hemodialysis unit in the state of Maryland to provide care exclusively to children and adolescents
  • Transplant team members who are leading the way in innovative programs to optimize transplant outcomes, including an internationally recognized program for transplanting highly sensitized patients and the availability of paired kidney exchange
  • Inpatient care in the state-of-the-art Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center building
