Harriet Lane Clinic

For nearly a century now, the name Harriet Lane has been synonymous with Johns Hopkins and revolutionary pediatric medicine, research and training. The first hospital in the nation devoted to children, the Harriet Lane Home for Invalid Children helped pioneer the practice of caring for patients in specialty clinics.

Hopkins Children’s Center has provided primary health care services to the community in East Baltimore for almost a century, first as the Harriet Lane Home and currently as the Harriet Lane Clinic located within the David M. Rubenstein Child Health Building. The mission of today’s Harriet Lane Clinic is to improve the health and quality of life of children within their families and communities and to educate trainees in this model of care.
