Our Services
-
The Pediatric Emergency Department at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center is open 24/7 to assess and treat burn injuries. Our highly trained team of pediatric emergency medicine physicians and nurses provide pain relief and wound care.
For patients who can go home from the emergency department, the care team provides required wound care supplies and care instructions, and ensures that families know how to follow up with the outpatient burn clinic.
-
The Pediatric Burn Outpatient Clinic provides initial care for smaller burns that do not require an emergency department visit, and follow-up care for children who have been discharged from our hospital or from referring emergency rooms.
Our clinic provides multidisciplinary ongoing care, which includes wound care, psychosocial support, and physical and occupational therapy.
-
Our surgical experts provide advanced surgery treatments for severe burns, including skin grafting, laser scar therapy and advanced reconstruction techniques.
-
Our rehabilitation services include physical and occupational therapy to aid in recovery and restore function, as well as pain management. We also have partnerships with Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital and Kennedy Krieger Institute for inpatient rehabilitation and intensive outpatient programming.
-
Our psychological support includes psychology and psychiatry services at Johns Hopkins Children's Center as well as a partnership with Mid-Atlantic Burn Camp.

-
The Johns Hopkins Children's Center Child Injury Prevention Program conducts outreach focusing on burn prevention and safety education for families.
