ME/CFS Program Patient Referral Process

The Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) & Related Disorders Program at Johns Hopkins provides comprehensive, evidence-informed evaluation and management for individuals with ME/CFS, long COVID, dysautonomia, and other infection-associated chronic conditions. We specialize in caring for patients experiencing persistent fatigue (≥6 months), post-exertional malaise, cognitive dysfunction (“brain fog”), orthostatic intolerance, unrefreshing sleep, and chronic pain.

As a tertiary referral center, we conduct structured diagnostic review, assess contributing autonomic and medical comorbidities, and develop individualized management plans in partnership with referring clinicians. All referrals undergo multidisciplinary record review prior to scheduling. Required laboratory and cardiac testing must be completed in advance to ensure a focused, high-value consultation. Referral to our program does not guarantee that the patient will be scheduled for a visit.

Due to high demand, new patient appointments are typically scheduled several months in advance.

We are currently only accepting new patients who live in Maryland, who are 13 to 25 years of age.
