At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are proud to provide our patients with a state-of-the-art, comprehensive Fetal Neurosonology Program. This program provides secondary interpretations of ultrasound images, if needed, along with the primary evaluation of the fetal central nervous system through ultrasound, specialized fetal neurosonology techniques and fetal MRI. We work closely with the Johns Hopkins Center for Fetal Therapy, pediatric neuroradiology and pediatric neurosurgery to streamline patient visits. Furthermore, as the Fetal Neurosonology Program is part of maternal-fetal medicine ultrasound, we help you facilitate other appointments, if needed, as in cases of multiple anomalies (e.g., fetal echocardiogram).
We know how frustrated or anxious families may feel at the time of diagnosis. Therefore, we strive to accommodate families so that they receive care in a timely fashion from a multidisciplinary care team with internationally renowned experts.
We have extensive experience with patients diagnosed with the following conditions (among others):
- Spina bifida (open neural tube defects)
- Mild ventriculomegaly
- Genetic brain malformations
- Fetal strokes/hemorrhage
- Other structural brain malformations
- Infectious etiologies of brain malformations
- Fetal neuronal migration disorders
Our program has cared for local and internationally referred patients. We are proud to continue to serve local, national and international families at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
