Research, Safety and Quality

two researchers in the lab

A commitment to research, safety and quality are some of the many reasons Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service patients live longer, have fewer surgical complications and report a better quality of life. The remarkable research conducted at Johns Hopkins results in effective and quality care. Our research has led to the development of new therapies, medications and vaccines, including the HPV vaccine — the first vaccine to prevent gynecologic cancer. Additionally, our patient satisfaction scores are among the highest in the nation, due to our commitment to safety and quality.

Clinical Trials

Patients benefit tremendously from access to the pioneering treatments piloted at Johns Hopkins. Our clinical trials are scientific studies that advance cancer care and prove the efficacy of a new medication or procedure, allowing women with cancer to live longer, fuller lives. Every treatment widely available today was once part of a clinical trial.

The Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service has several open clinical trials. If you are interested in participating in one, please search the database at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.

National Cancer Institute SPORE

Johns Hopkins is the recipient of grants from the National Cancer Institute’s Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) for ovarian and cervical cancers. Our researchers are helping the world understand more about the cause, development and treatment of gynecologic malignancies.
