The Johns Hopkins Fertility Center, established in 1984, is a nationally recognized leader and resource on fertility issues, treatments and education. Our expert team of infertility specialists, reproductive endocrinologists, clinical nurses and embryologists, led by Valerie Baker, uses state-of-the-art assisted reproductive technology (ART) — including in vitro fertilization; embryo, oocyte and sperm cryopreservation; and intrauterine insemination — to provide comprehensive fertility care. We work closely with our patients to identify the unique causes of their infertility and tailor treatment to a wide range of conditions that affect male and female fertility such as endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, uterine fibroids, Mullerian anomalies or medical/cancer treatments that may cause infertility.
If you are one of the 15 percent of couples in the U.S. who are experiencing infertility, trust your care to the Johns Hopkins Fertility Center. From the first telephone consultation through your initial in-person appointment and subsequent treatment, our team will invest in you personally, working diligently to help you achieve your dream of having a baby.

The ART Laboratories – Embryology and Andrology
To ensure safety and quality of our fertility services, our ART laboratories — CLIA-certified for high complexity clinical laboratory testing — are inspected annually by the College of American Pathologists. Our tissue bank is approved by the Maryland state licensing organization and the Food and Drug Administration for optimal storage of oocytes, embryos, sperm and ovarian tissues.
We provide a wide range of services including in vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm, assisted hatching, embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing, semen analyses, sperm wash for intrauterine insemination, testicular sperm cryopreservation and other andrology services. We use Baby Sentry and Epic for the medical records.
A Leader in Education in Reproductive Endocrinology
In 1939, Johns Hopkins established itself as a leader in research and education in the field of reproductive endocrinology. That year, Drs. Georgeanna Seegar Jones and Howard W. Jones began teaching residents and fellows an expanding knowledge of endocrinology before the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology established a formalized subspecialty training program in the field.
Today, we continue to build on our reputation as a thought leader in the field, providing residents and clinical fellows with exceptional instruction. Learn more about our nationally recognized education and training programs.
