Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year Award
The Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year award is given to the advanced practice provider who consistently achieves high standards in the practice of medicine and is looked upon as a role model by their peers. This award is open to APPs associated with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. APPs include physician assistants (P.A.-C.s), nurse practitioners (C.R.N.P.s), certified nurse-midwives (C.N.W.s).

APP of the Year - 2022Julie El-Taher, C.R.N.P.
Nurse Practitioner, Family Medicine
Julie El-Taher, C.R.N.P., is a family medicine provider at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians’ (JHCP) Frederick location. N.P. El-Taher is a devoted nurse practitioner who has a passion for caring for underserved populations, such as transgender patients and patients with disabilities or mental illness. In an effort to maximize her skills, N.P. El-Taher obtained additional training and earned a certification in psychiatry. She has been serving the Frederick community for more than twenty years, maintaining exceptional Clinician and Group Survey-Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CG-CAHPS) patient experience scores, while exceeding productivity targets.
N.P. El-Taher’s patients love her. They often comment that she is an excellent provider with whom they can partner in optimizing their care. Her colleagues praise her resilience and describe her as an “ideal nurse practitioner.” She is an advocate for her fellow advanced practice providers through her involvement in the Supporting Nursing Advanced Practice Transitions (SNAPT) program and by serving on JHCP’s Credentialing Committee. We are so proud to have N.P. El-Taher as part of our team, and to name her the 2022 recipient of the Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year Award.
APP of the Year - 202Jill Crank, C.R.N.P., M.S.N., M.P.H.
Nurse Practitioner, Internal Medicine
Jill Crankis known among her colleagues for her clinical acumen and dedication to her patients. She consistently receives the highest marks on her Clinician and Group Survey-Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CG-CAHPS) patient experience scores, and also achieves the highest or near-highest quality metric scores in her office. Perhaps most notable about N.P. Crank’s exceptional work is her expertise in HIV care and sexual health, proven through her work at the John G. Bartlett Specialty Practice and with the transgender population. A provider at the Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health, N.P. Crank is recognized as a leader for her care of transgender patients in Baltimore, and has been invited to several speaking engagements on the subject. Her work with several hundred transgender patients has provided essential and exceptional care to this underserved population. N.P. Crank is undoubtedly deserving of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians inaugural Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year Award.
