Johns Hopkins Urology Ranked #3 in the Nation

The Brady Urological Institute was ranked the #3 urology specialty in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2020–21 Best Hospitals list. The Institute has consistently held high rankings on this list since the ranking system began, including more than 20 years in the top spot. 

2019 

Dr. Ballentine Carter Receives Eugene Fuller Triennial Prostate Award 

For his outstanding contributions in the field of prostate cancer, specifically in the areas of PSA screening and surveillance, Ballentine Carter, M.D., has been recognized by the American Urological Association with the 2019 Eugene Fuller Triennial Prostate Award. 

The award is given once every three years to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the study of the prostate gland and its associated diseases. 

Dr. Carter is a professor of Urology and Oncology and an internationally recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. 

Dr. Trinity Bivalacqua Receives the AUA Gold Cystoscope Award  

Trinity Bivalacqua, M.D., Ph.D., has received one of the American Urological Association’s highest honors, the Gold Cystoscope Award. It recognizes the young urologist who has made the most contributions during the first 10 years after completing his or her residency. Recipients of this Award have a distinguished history of going on to become leaders in the field. Examples of this include the following Brady faculty and former residents, who have also received the award: Patrick Walsh, William Catalona, Mani Menon, Herbert Lepor, Louis Kavoussi, Alan Partin, Jeffrey Cadeddu, and William Roberts.

2018 

Dr. Arthur Burnett Receives the AUA Distinguished Contribution Award 

Arthur Burnett, M.D., has received the 2018 Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Urological Association. Dr. Burnett was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the fields of prostate cancer, sexual medicine and urologic mentoring.  

Dr. Arthur Burnett Recognized as Birdland Community Hero

During an Orioles home game on June 17, 2018, Arthur Burnett, M.D., was recognized as a Birdland Community Hero for his commitment to men’s health and mentoring youth in the Baltimore community. The Birdland Community Heroes program “honors and recognizes community heroes who inspire us through their spirited commitment to extend a hand in charity, service, hope, and harmony.” 

In support of the program, the Orioles Charitable Foundation made a $2,500 donation to The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute.

2016

Dr. Ballentine Carter Awarded Huggins Medal 

Ballentine Carter, M.D., has been awarded the 2016 Huggins Medal by the Society of Urologic Oncology. The award recognizes major contributions and lifetime achievement in research and clinical practice that has contributed to progress in the treatment for patients with genitourinary neoplasms. 

2015 

Dr. Alan Partin Receives the AUA Distinguished Contribution Award 

Alan Partin, M.D., has received the 2015 Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Urological Association. Dr. Partin was recognized for his contributions to science — most importantly, the creation of the Partin Tables, which are used by urologists throughout the world. 

2014 

Dr. Patrick C. Walsh Selected as Giant of Cancer Care 2014 

Patrick C. Walsh, M.D., has been selected as a 2014 Giant of Cancer Care. The initiative celebrates individuals who have achieved landmark success within the field of oncology. Exceptional cancer researchers and cancer physicians aren’t born — they’re made. Although they come from varied backgrounds, there is a common thread they all seem to exhibit: a dogged persistence in tackling and solving some of the most complex scientific challenges; a compassionate drive to improve the quality of life of the patient; drawing inspiration from mentors who came before them; and all too often, they have experienced the loss of a family member or friend from cancer. These attributes and experiences mark just some of what makes up an individual destined to thrive in the oncology field.
