Resident Rotations

To obtain competence and confidence in clinical pharmacy practice, the resident shall complete training in various areas of pharmacy practice. The content or direction of specific training segments will be developed to meet the individual resident’s needs as determined by the resident’s initial assessment plan. Required training segments and the length of time for each segment are as follows:

Inpatient Operations: 8 weeks

Clinical week: 2 weeks

Acute Care

  • Internal Medicine: 4 weeks
  • Critical Care: 4 weeks
  • Oncology: 6 weeks
  • Geriatrics: 4 weeks
  • Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks

Non-Acute Care

  • Drug Information: 5 weeks
  • Management: 4 weeks

Electives: Remaining weeks

Longitudinal Training Experiences

  • Hospital Orientation/Central Staffing 
  • Research and other projects
  • Weekend/holiday coverage
